چکیده

Abstract The accelerating pace of climate-induced stress to global ecosystems threatens the sustainable management and conservation biodiversity. To effectively respond, researchers managers require rapid vulnerability assessment tools that can be readily implemented using diverse existing knowledge sources. Here we demonstrate application multi-criteria analysis (MCA) for this purpose a group coastal-pelagic fishes from south-eastern Australia as case-study. We show MCA has capacity formally structure sources, ranging peer-reviewed information (which informed 29.2% criteria among models) expert 22.6% models), quantify sensitivity species biophysical conditions. By integrating models with spatial climate data over historical future periods, rapidly assessing marine change. Spatial analyses revealed an apparent trend case-study towards increasing or stable projected change throughout northern (i.e. equatorward) extent study domain emergence refugia southern poleward) regions. Results projections method were consistent past redistribution suitable habitat off eastern under demonstrating value change, highlight opportunity develop user-friendly software infrastructures integrated projection support interdisciplinary method.

Climate change vulnerability assessment in Georgia

Climate change is occurring in the Southeastern United States, and one manifestation is changes in frequency and intensity of extreme events. A vulnerability assessment is performed in the state of Georgia (United States) at the county level from 1975 to 2012 in decadal increments. Climate change vulnerability is typically measured as a function of exposure to physical phenomena (e.g., droughts...

Rapid Response of a Marine Mammal Species to Holocene Climate and Habitat Change

Environmental change drives demographic and evolutionary processes that determine diversity within and among species. Tracking these processes during periods of change reveals mechanisms for the establishment of populations and provides predictive data on response to potential future impacts, including those caused by anthropogenic climate change. Here we show how a highly mobile marine species...

Climate change vulnerability for species-Assessing the assessments.

Climate change vulnerability assessments are commonly used to identify species at risk from global climate change, but the wide range of methodologies available makes it difficult for end users, such as conservation practitioners or policymakers, to decide which method to use as a basis for decision-making. In this study, we evaluate whether different assessments consistently assign species to ...
